On Friday, May, 15 Ukrainian designer Kseniya Marchenko (X’U) presented a limited number of T-shirts “I love Kiev by X’U”.
Presentation took place in recently opened designer’s show-room, which differs from other capital’s shops with its cosy and friendly atmosphere. Party gathered cheerful and bright public people, who willingly wear clothes made in Ukraine. Among guests, whom Kseniya Marchenko dressed in presented T-shirts, were artists Illiya Chychkan and Masha Shubina, Kyrylo Procenko, Volodymyr Kuznecov, art-coordinator Volodymyr Kadygrob, photographer Lesia Mal’ska, designers Iryna Karavay and Artem Klimchuk, singers Sister Siren, djs Katia Zauber and duet Zhiguli, fashion magazines’ editors and famous Ukrainian stylists.
Face of the collection “I love Kiev by X’U” became Dariya Shapovalova (presenter of the TV program Fashion Week with Dariya Shapovalova).
Print «I love Kiev» Kseniya Marchenko made especially to Kiev’s Day. The red heart on the T-shirt is simply melting because of love to native city, that’s why the title «I love Kiev» should be read as “I’m burning with love to Kiev”. Collection was made of 100 per cent whitened cotton. Female’s T-shirts have nice décolleté and lengthened sleeve, men’s, on the other hand, stay in frames of classical silhouette. The main idea of the collection was to make universal basic piece of clothes with big print, comfortable and elegant, which can be combined not only with jeans.
According to Ksenia Marchenko, she wanted to make a garment by which people, who love Kiev, could show their love not only verbally but also with substantial thing – fashionable T-shirt.
The whole work on the collection – including improvement of the print and search of the softest cotton – took around a month.
T-shirts “I love Kiev by X’U” are available in four different sizes for men and women. They were ready on offer next day after presentation (approximate price of the T-shirt is 150 UAH).

HISTORICAL REFERENCE
In 1975 artist Milton Glaser created legendary print «I ♥ NY», which was ordered by municipal authority of New York. Three laconic letters and red heart became classic and found many followers. A T-shirt with declaration of love according to “Glaser formulation” can be found in a souvenir shop of any big city. In Paris one can buy T-shirts «J'aime Paris» from Clode Kloski, in Oxford street is full of «I love London», and declaration of love to Tokyo is printed in hieroglyphs by Brandfactory. And only our beloved Kiev didn’t have its own “valentine” till now!
